Far off the beaten path, several kilometers away from the city center, the BTS, the MRT and hordes of people, there was a house on Ramkamhaeng 118. A playboy mansion with an artificial lake to be exact- and a birthday soirée for a production crew of creative merrymakers with one mission: to bring the magic back to live music. Last Saturday night October 10th marked the one year anniversary of the Sofar Sounds Bangkok team convening for the first time to produce extraordinary secret music events in intimate locations. This was no ordinary Sofar Sounds event and required the concentrated efforts of more than a dozen volunteers painstakingly devoting their time and talents to the production whether it be as a videographer, sound engineer, graphics designer, publicist or even boom mic operator.
The birthday bash was the most ambitious event the team has ever staged so far and one can only speculate what is coming next. Lead by director, Adam Sharpe and managing director, Pakarn Kiatpinyo, the evening was a triumph after countless hours of planning, overcoming challenges, and hard work. The combined efforts of motivated professionals prevailed. There are photos to prove it.
Four kick ass performances by Yanin, Plastic Section, Fwends and Srirajah Rockers as well as the electronica set by Comet Record's DCNXTR brought the house down and made the night for this philosopher, one of the best shows of the year. It's hard to beat a house party full of die hard music fans, musicians, and artists. Despite the rain and several major issues for the team to maneuver around, the night was full of beaming, enthusiastic music lovers.
The following is a little behind-the-scenes photo essay of the party and the people that made it all happen: the bands, the fans and of course, the team. For more information on Sofar Sounds Bangkok click here.
