Fatty’s Bar and Diner is hosting a charity open mic next Tuesday, July 17 for a member of the Fatty's family, friend and bartender, Shane Denoon (Facebook: Seamus Lestrange.)

Shane was incarcerated last month on June 15th in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on charges related to a motorcycle accident on January 27th  of this year.

His family and friends are raising money for his legal defense.

Shane woke up in a hospital and was informed by police a 50 year-old wwoman sustained fatal injuries when his motorbike and her bicycle collided. He has no memory of an accident and suffered head wounds.

Vietnamese news publication Bao Mi reports the accident took place at about 4 am on January 27th on Cong Ly Bridge in Ho Chi Minh City.

He had been cooperating with police for several months before getting jailed in June.

Shane is being held at Chi Hoa Prison in HCMC and is not allowed any visitors. Hiis family's sole communication with him is by way of US Consular officials.

For the next few months, there is an investigation and Shane needs legal representation by a local attorney.

Shane helped me get through middle and high school by being one of my best friends. I didn't talk to anyone but him and one other awesome chic for years. Beyond shy.Life got crazy, as it does. I moved away, had a child. I came out of my shell of a life that I lived, a good part of that was due to him. As teenagers we were probably the most awkward folks you could find at the time, but we had each other.I moved back to my hometown. Hung out a bit before he started his adventures. Still kept in touch, be it every few years. In no way could he mean any harm to anyone else. Please let me know how I can help. I work for a nonprofit, so monetarily wise it is a no go, but totally willing to do fundraisers.
