OK, so you thought you had your Saturday night sorted out? You thought you'd just pass out on the floor at Overstay and sleep with the cat? Now, I throw a wrench into your evening when I tell you The Sangsom Massacre will also be playing that night at Immortal Bar around the block from Victory Monument and just down the road from Fatty's Bar. With the speed and agility of drunk ninjas, The Sangsom Massacre will need to destroy The Overstay and then hop into their fucking taxis in time to bring Immortal to its knees. They are definitely a band I'd go and watch twice were not for the fact Degaruda are playing very late at Overstay.... possibly around same time as Massacre at Immortal - so it's like fucking "Sophie's Choice" with Meryl Streep where you gotta choose which kid you want to give away to be executed first - OK, it really isn't that bad.... AND then, all the way at the brand new Apoteka in Thonglor, Popscene will be delivering Tabasco and Local Machine. Anyone that can make it to all 3 shows in one night should get some kind of fucking war medal or something!
UPDATE: ROCKET SCIENCE WILL BE PLAYING THIS SHOW.
A show that fortunately is not next weekend but worth putting on the calendar is Haus 20 on August 17. It's gonna be Matthew Fischer and the Fishes, Local Machine, Degaruda and indie pioneers, Basement Tape. That's enough to wet your pants and start the weekend early. You had better make your way out to Haus 20 early to beat the nightmarish traffic in Lat Phrao. And while we're at it, I wanna give a shout out to Danny and Toby, two new friends who were thirsting for live underground music and found it... eventually... at Haus 20... with Degaruda. They battled traffic, sweat, and their own will. Six indie rock explorers set out that fateful night in search of Haus 20, but only 2 made it. You guys are legend, the Louis and Clark of the city. Christ, I couldn't be fucked to go to Lat Phrao on a week day.
Some new livecasts are coming up - at an undisclosed time and location I will be recording a "songwriters forum" featuring the thoughts and wisdom on the craft from Top Tarasin of Degaruda, Matthew Fischer, and Ben Edwards. Also a Basement Tape podcast is in the works.
Normally I add links to this page but I'm too lazy to do it right now. If you want to know what's happening, follow and friend me on facebook. If you are looking for band members or something send me a PM and I'll put the word out. See you at the shows. Thanks for sharing and caring. DC
